    "David (Chapin), bapt. at Paignton 4 Jan. 1624/5. In the will of his grandfather, Henry Penny, dated 6 Apr. 1630, is this bequest: 'To David Chapin my nephew [grandson], 20/ yearly for 7 years to be paid by [my] Executrix [the testator's wife, Jane] towards his bringing up in learning.'
