The IGI says Daniel Pihlgren was born 1709 in Växjö, Kronoberg, to Sven Pihlgren and Helena Unneria. As of 11 Mar 2005, this has been unconfirmable. Genline has no birth records that old for that place. Its earliest useful household examinations, 1723-1728, have been surveyed and reveal no Pihlgrens in residence. (Of course they might have left or might be lurking on a difficult-to-read page, but no positive primary evidence yet connects any Pihlgrens to that place, let alone Daniel himself.)

Daniel Pihlgren is a witness to a baptism 29 July 1736, and again 12 December 1736, this time identified as "adjunct" (=curate). Nowhere in the 1736, 1737, 1740 birth records is there any sign of another Pihlgren family in town.
