[Anc Van Duzer 89dee.ged] Private in American Revolution. Enlisted in the state of Maryland in 1 776 and served for 2 years as a private under Captain John Gist. He wa s wounded in the foot at the Battle of Brandywine where it is said he s erved on the staff of Lafayette and received honorable discharge. Citiz en of the United States. Family records states he was a Church of Engl and man. Great grand-daughter Ida Alice states in her notes of 1905 th at Daniel lived to be 98 years old. Came to OH, 1817 following his son D aniel who came to Ohio in 1815. In his grandson Oscar Daniel O'Brien' s obituary it was said that Daniel died at the age of 95. He arrived i n America at age of 17. He never spoke of his life in Ireland, so his c hildren could only judge of his station in life by his use of English a nd general air of cultivation. His grand-daughter Ida Alice Youngs had b een told that he ran away from the University of Dublin to the colonies . In a letter of 13 Sep 1917 from Adelaide Van Duzer she notes that he is b uried in Ricis burying ground. (Note difference in spelling). She sta tes his age as being 99 in this letter. He is noted in his grand-son's biography, Ogden Benjamin Youngs, that h e was a Sergeant in the Revolutionary War. References
