Daniel Delos Hunt, b. Mar. 12, 1828, d. Apr. 6, 1890, son of Dr. Samuel M. Hunt, who was the 1st white child born in Marathon.
His grandfather, Dr. Japheth Hunt, a Rev. War surgeon, settled in Marathon in 1796, the 1st white family to settle there. This was bounty lands, given to Rev. War veterans for their services in the recent war. This was probably also why Ebenezer Carley came here.
Esther inherited Ebenezer's homestead, where her father had built a grand new house on the site of the old one. This is still standing today.
