"5-17 Ens. Dan Linsley (Joseph, 3 Johns) Born at Northford Oct. 27, 1734, was a farmer on the estate of his father, a Congregational churchman. In May 1771, 'This Assembly do establish Dan Linsley to be Ensign of the 14th Company or Trainband in the second regiment of this Colony'. (Colonial Records of Conn, Vol. XIII Pg 430.)
