Bio: D. Jean (McDaniel) Windle, 91, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 10, 2022, in Columbus.
Jean was born March 19, 1932, in Forest. She graduated from Forest High School, where she met her future husband, Earl Windle.
After graduating, she moved to Findlay and worked for Ohio Oil Company (now Marathon Oil), and Earl soon trained and served during the Korean War. They married when he was on leave in 1951, and enjoyed a honeymoon trip to Niagara Falls. After Earl returned home from his military service, their family soon included two sons and a daughter. Jean excelled as a mom and caregiver her entire life. She participated in groups for the children such as Cub Scouts and Camp Fire Girls, and attended hundreds of baseball, football, and basketball games the kids were part of.
As the children grew, she worked outside of home, greeting and helping customers for Trico Glass and Findlay Rehabilitation among a few others. She was active at YMCA and Salem United Methodist church. She and Earl enjoyed spending time with family and friends at a Merry Lake, Michigan vacation home, and also in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Sarasota, Florida. They enjoyed a 63-year marriage, and she lived in Findlay until 2018 when she moved to Columbus to be close to family.
Jean is remembered and celebrated by three children, Steve Windle (wife Ann), Nancy Stover (Jeff), and Dan Windle (Susan); six grandchildren, Shawna Windle (Chris Minor), Tyler Stover (Michelle), Steph Vrana (Elliot), Kacie Bartimus (Matt), Torie Maurer (Andrew), and Kristina Windle (Mitch Dilly); seven great-grandchildren, Brynlee, Blake, Lilly, Penny, Harper, Zoe, and Cooper; sister-in-law, Marcella Woodard; and special nieces and nephews. All are grateful to live in the legacy of love which Jean and Earl established for them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Everett, and Harriet (Hougendobler) McDaniel; husband, Earl; sister, Marge Fuhrer; two brothers-in-law, Fred Fuhrer and Don Woodward; mother-in-law, Inez Windle; daughter-in-law, Peggy Windle; and special friends and relatives.
