12th Duke of Veragua, Marquis of Jamaica, 14th Admiral of the Indies.

Though he took no interest in politics, Duke Cristóbal was arrested late in 1936 by the Republican government. Though numerous Latin American countries offered to grant him refuge, his body later was found on the road in pajamas, presumably murdered by Republican agents.
