    Craig M. Kilby, a former Missouri State Representative from Lake Saint Louis, Mo., died Thursday, January 28, 2016, of a heart attack in Lancaster, where he was well known and had worked in recent years as a genealogical researcher.

    Mr. Kilby, who was 56, represented part of St. Charles County in the House from 1987 to 1992. When he took office at age 26, he was the youngest member of the House.

    In 1992, he ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination for secretary of state.

    While in Missouri, Mr. Kilby also had a real estate appraisal firm and later worked as a political consultant for GOP candidates.

    He grew up in Foristell in western St. Charles County and graduated from Wentzville High School. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

    He was the son of Parker and Peggy (Branneky) Kilby.

    He is survived by his mother, Peggy Kilby of Defiance, Mo.; and brothers, Tim Kilby of Defiance, Mike Kilby of Germany and Kent Kilby of Virginia Beach.

    Craig was preceded in death by his father, Parker Kilby.

    A funeral and interment were private. His corneas were donated to Virginia’s organ donor program.

    A memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s White Chapel, Lancaster, VA. March 13th at 2pm.

    His mother, Peggy Kilby of the Defiance area, said he relocated from the St. Louis area about 16 years ago and lived in Lancaster, Va. She said he died while researching records at a local courthouse for his research firm.

    The funeral will be private and the body will be cremated.

    Among other survivors are three brothers, Tim Kilby of the Defiance area, Kent Kilby of Virginia Beach, Va., and Michael Kilby of Germany.
