Cornelis Hendricksen van Nes was probably from the "polder" Nes, in the province of Zuid-Holland, not far from Vianen and Leksmond. According to Hoffman, it had not yet (as of 1941) been documented that Cornelis was a descendant of Gerrit van Nes but Hoffman thought the circumstantial case to be strong. Please note that the Cornelis Hendricsz van Nes, the son of Hendirck (Gerritse) van Nes mentioned in 1559, could not possibly be identical with Cornelis Hendricksen van Ness, the father-in-law of Pieter Claesen van Norden, who was not born until ca. 1600.
