    "MAUPIN, CORNELIUS. Born Feb. 3, 1758. Private under Capt. Robert Harris, Maj. Nicholas Lewis; enlisted August, 1778, for two months; again March, 1781, for two months under Capt. Henry Burk; September, 1781, three months, shoemaker at Albemarle Barracks. Enlisted in Albemarle County, Va. He applied for pension, but claim was rejected on the grounds that the soldier did not render six months' service. Buried in Halley Cemetery, near Armstrong, Mo."
