    8. CORNELIUS6 DEHART (ELIAS SIMON5, SIMON AERTSZEN4, AERT SYMOSZ3, SYMON JACOBUS2, WILLIAM1) was born Abt. 1707 in NJ or NY, and died Bef. January 13, 1779 in Amity, Berks Co, PA. He married MARIA CATHERINE. She was born Abt. 1720, and died Abt. 1784.
    Notes for CORNELIUS DEHART: Cornelius moved to Berks Co, PA, along with a wave of others from Monmouth, NJ.
    His name appears on the Berks Co. tax lists for 1754, 1759, 1767, and 1768 (source: Berks Co. GenWeb). He is on the taxables list in 1775 along with Samuel and William DeHart in Amity Twp, Berks Co, PA (source: www.rootsweb.com/~paberks/montgomery/d03.html). From the size of his taxes, he must have been a huge land owner and he was a Weaver. He is shown here as the son of Elias Simon but he could be the son of Elias' brother, Cornelius.
    Dora Smith, in her "Background Information on Berks Co. DeHarts" wrote that Cornelius died before 13 Jan 1779 and "left a widow paying taxes there." His wife was on the 1779 tax list for Amity Twp, Berks Co, PA.
