Constantine II (Konstantin II Asen), was the son of a tsar of Bulgaria allegedly ruled from 1397 to 1422. He was born in the early 1370s, and died in exile at the Serbian court on 17 September 1422. Constantine II claimed the title Emperor of Bulgaria but was only a prince. His brother Ivan Shishman of Bulgaria referred to himself not as a Tsar (as traditionally), but as a hospodar or gospodin of Tarnovo, and in foreign sources was styled herzog or merely called an "infidel bey". This was possibly to indicate vassalage to Bayezid I.
