    Mr. Clifford Q. Root , 89, of Brooksville, FL and formerly of Madisonville, KY died Thursday, February 24, 2005, at his home in Brookville.

    Born August 20, 1915 in Morris, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Daisy Thompson Root and two sons, Clifford Root Jr., January 12, 1999 and Daryle W. Root, December 27, 2004.

    Mr. Root retired after 43 years as a dragline operator with Peabody Coal Company in Kentucky, He moved to Florida 22 years ago.

    Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Josephine Baker Root; one daughter, Sylvia B. Rhew of Madisonville; four sisters, Wanda Marvin and Madelyn Wilcox, both of Brooksville, Nellie Domineski of Morris, PA and Vivian Urban of Liberty, PA; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

    Graveside services will be held 11:30 A.M. Thursday, March 24, 2005 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville with Rev. Jim McMurtrie officiating.

    Barnett-Strother Funeral Home is in charge of the service.

    Memorial contributions may take the from of donations to Hernando-Pasco Hospice, Inc., 12107 Majestic Blvd, Hudson, FL 34667. Envelopes will be available at the graveside service.
