Cleophas Dillman Burdick, son of Myron and Ellen Burdick, was born in Fayette county, Illinois, March 19, 1897, and died at his home in Clay county, Illinois, January 28, 1919, with pneumonia, following influenza, age 21 years, 10 months and 9 days.
He united with the Chrlstlan church at North Harter October, 1915, and continued to cherish the Christian Hope to the end. He was kind and considerate of his mother, brother and sisters, and always felt the dependence of the home and the responsibilities of a dutiful son to a widowed mother. He was genial and companionable with his neighbors and friends and was respected for his sterling worth and cheerful nature.
There are left to mourn their loss a mother, a brother, Russell L., with the American Expeditionary Force in a far-away land, two sisters, Forrest Ferne and Ida Rochelle, at home, one grandmother, and a host of other relatives and friends.
He will be greatly missed not only in the home but by a large circle of neighbors and friends.
Funeral services were held at the house, January 29, by Rev. L. D. Seager, of Farina, and the body was laid to rest in the Farina cemetery.
