    Case 2619:Jonathan Johnson.

4 Sep 1822: Bond of William Whitaker as guardian to Clement Johnson a minor above the age of fourteen years son of Jonathan Johnson late of New Salem.
[Note: In same file, same guardian for Jonathan and Hannah under 14]

  7. Franklin Deed Vol. 75, p. 165 27 Mar 1827: Clement S. Johnson David Goddard Jun'r Jonathan Kemp Mary Goddard wife of the s'd David & Laura Kemp wife of s'd Jonathan for $22 quitclaim to Jeremy Tirrell of New Salem all right to 4 acres in New Salem. Combined with the probate file cited, this suggests Clement had father Jonathan, sister Mary who m. David Goddard Jr., sister Laura who m. Jonathan Kemp, younger brother Jonathan, younger brother Hannah.

Secondary literature suggests his father was Jonathan Johnson, s/o Solomon Johnson and Sarah Dexter. Source:Warden, William A. Genealogy of the Dexter Family in America, p. 53 names his mother as Betsey Kennedy, while a query in Source:Connecticut Nutmegger (Connecticut Society of Genealogists), Vol. 25, p. 690, gives the mother's name as Hannah. No records of any of this have been found.
