Clement W. Crumb, son of Matthew Wells Crumb and Ann Crumb, was born in Milton township Sept. 7, 1858. He attended North Milton school and Milton college. On June 5, 1889, he married Elizabeth Johnson in Darien and they resided in Milton until September, 1923, when they moved to Redwood City, Calif.
Mr. Crumb had been a traveling salesman for twenty-two years and had conducted a produce business in Milton prior to moving to Redwood City where he took up blueprinting. Although in failing health he had conducted his business until three weeks before his death which occurred Aug. 17th in Mills Memorial hospital at Redwood City.
Survivors are his wife Elizabeth, his son Fred W. and wife and their son Lawrence N. Crumb.
Mr. Crumb joined the Odd Fellows when quite a young man. He withdrew from the Milton Jct. lodge to become a charter member of Du Lac lodge No. 322, Milton, which membership he retained at the time of his death. He also was a member of the Masonic lodge 161, Milton Jct. During his residence in Redwood City, he took active part in Bay View lodge I. O. O. F., and that organization conducted brief funeral rites Aug. 18 before the body was shipped to Milton. Mrs. Crumb and son Fred accompanied the body here. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Milton S. D. B. church, Dr. Edwin Shaw, representing the I. O. O. F., officiating.
