"Clement1 Buxton settled in Stamford Connecticut (known as Rippowam by the natives) sometime prior to 1650. He is mentioned as a property owner on page 45, Stamford Town Meetings 1630-1806 (books 1 & 2). 'March 15th(1650), The land of Clement Buckston wth the bounds and butlments viz;' briefly, a house on 1 1/2 acres, 9 1/2 acres of upland in three pieces and 4 acres of meadow in 2 pieces. 'Cle Buckston to maynta 5 length of rayle and 5 rods mor in (____) in another place, both in the Northfield fence (_____) of Tho Morhous.' The land was bounded in various places by the lands of: Richard Lawe, Thomas Morhous, Thomas Moris, John Chapman, Thomas Hout, Nickles Knap Este, Jonas Weed, Vincent Seinkings, John Elot, (_____) Batta, Obediah Seelly, David Mitchell and Goodman Law. This land is in areas now known as Turn of River and as Newfield. Clement's estate was taken Sep. 3, 1657 and apprized by Richard Law and John Holly. It was given upon the oath of the widow Unica Buxton, May 13, 1658. Unica married Peter Brown on 27 July 1658. He died 27 August 1658 and she married Nickolas Knapp, 9 March 1659. Nickolas' will was given in 1667. Unica died in April of 1670." References
