Clara Mae (Coon) Serl 1868-1936 Milton Newspaper Obituary "The Milton Junction Telephone", Thursday, Nov. 26, 1936, p 1. Funeral services for Mrs. S. D. Serl, who died in Mercy Hospital, Janesville, Monday morning, were held in a Delavan funeral home Wednesday at 2 p. m., Rev. Carroll L. Hill, Milton, officiating assisted by Dr. Edwin Shaw. Burial was at Emerald Grove. Clara, daughter of George A. and Cordelia Burdick Coon, was born in Leonardsville, N. Y., April 14, 1868. As a girl of 16 she was baptized in the Seventh Day Baptist church, and maintained membership in the Milton church. She was a graduate of Leonardsville academy, and when 22 came to Wisconsin and taught school. She married Stephen Serl Oct. 5, 1892, and except for brief times at Platteview and Milton, they have resided at Fairfield [Walworth Co.] since. Surviving are her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Robt. Clowes, Darien, a son Raymond of Bradford, four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Earl Wetmore, Darien, and Nettie Coon, Riverside, Calif.; and one brother, Floyd, of Riverside.
