Obituary

Metcalfe, Christy Gregory, Jr. passed away Thursday October 14th, 2010 as a WWII Veteran who earned respect for having fought for our country and our freedom.

He passed peacefully with family and friends by his side under the experienced care and affection of the staff at Manor Care, Dunedin and the Suncoast Hospice Angels.

Born December 1,1924, in Indianapolis, Indiana; he accomplished much in his life.

At a very young age Christy's passion was music and he selected the accordion and his voice as his instruments to perfect. He built a career from this strong desire and raised five (5) children doing exactly what he loved. Many years ago he was known as "The Tri Fi's' but as of recent times he was teamed as "Smooth~n~Sassy" still entertaining locally and loving it!

In the late 1960's he relocated from Ohio to Florida and established a business in his local community; Dunedin, Florida. For nearly twenty (20) years he owned and operated the "Sentinel Shoppe" on Main Street In Dunedin; featuring custom framing. Ironically, the signage for the Shoppe did not pass the city codes. This turn of event inspired Christy to volunteer with the Dunedin City Commission and he became an original member in establishing the "Sign City Board" in which he served in all capacities and received a thirty (30) year of service award in 2010!

As a parishioner of the Faith Lutheran Church in Dunedin, he was blessed to share his love for music as a participant in their choir and enjoyed it tremendously.

His "fun love" for golf led him to become a member, starter and promoter of the Dunedin Country Club. For years he built friendships and played weekly with his buddies "The Owls".

In reference to his beliefs and passion for life Christy was a Brother and Past Master (1983) with the Sutherland Lodge No.174 of the Free & Accepted Masons in Palm Harbor, FL.

He is survived by his son Chet Metcalfe and loving daughter in law Sharon, daughters; Candi Bistline and loving son in law Bus, Cindy Rose and Cheri Grabau (the baby). Grandchildren: Mike, Dawn, Timmy, Chandra, Larry, Kyle and Marilyn. Great Grands: Christiana, Noah, Skylar, Kamden, Kristopher and Evan.

Christy was a wonderful and loving father and grandpa. A beloved husband and a cherished friend to so many who will miss him often and love him always.
