Source:History of the Town of Hingham, Massachusetts, Vol. 2, p. 38, applies the death in March 1663 to this child, making it a daughter who died young, and leaving Sarah presumably alive. However, the order of the entries in the journal suggests the death is March 1662/63 (it appears in the entries for the year before the year where the birth occurs) which suggests it applies probably to Sarah, or at least to one of the older children, and therefore all we know about this child is the birth date, but no gender or name. The History of Hingham mentions the will of James Bates but gives no abstract. If, perchance, he mentions a daughter Sarah, a possibility suggested by this source showing Sarah alive, that would seem instead to suggest the name was reused for this child? Hingham records do not really start until 1666 so this seems to be the only basis for all of this.
