Genealogical History of the Rice Family : Descendants of Deacon Edmund Rice, p. 111-112, says that widow, of the father, claimed "allowance for supporting Charles, the only child of her husband Rice", and that she married Brookfield Mar. 1761 Jesse Burk. Westminster, Vermont 1735-2000: Township Number One by Jessie Haas, says p. 29: "Jonathan Burk came [to Westminster] from Brimfield, Massachusetts, around 1761 with three sons: Jesse, Simeon and Silas. Jesse, twenty-two, had married a Widow Rice, whose husband had been killed by Indians; she had a three-year-old son, Charles Rice."
