[Note: this disagrees with recorded death, but probably errors in both. Since ultimately this is unsourced (it comes from Source:Pierce, Frederick Clifton. Whitney: The Descendants of John Whitney, p. 345, but that sources does not identify how it obtained the information), the death record is favored, but see the analysis attached to it.]

    Name: Charles T. Paine
    Sex: Male
    Color: White
    Condition: Single
    Age: 8 m. 6 d. [sic, see attached analysis]
    Place of Death: Detroit
    Cause: Convulsions
    Place of Birth: Michigan
    Occupation: None
Parents: Charles G. Paine / Lucy [sic] Paine
Birthplaces of Parents: Massachusetts / Massachusetts
[Note: the birthplaces of the parents is convincing evidence this applies to this person despite the error in the mother's name. The age at death appears to have be shifted in the wrong columns, 8 m. 6 d. intended, but the shift giving 8 y. 6 m. No son Charles is found in the 1880 census so a birth in 1875 seems unlikely. It seems unlikely this data would be a year off, such reports being submitted yearly, which suggests the Whitney data above is one year off. But ultimately, that is a guess since the source of the Whitney data is unknown so cannot be properly assessed for reliability, and no birth record is found.]
