    (2) May 8, 1853, Elizabeth Electa Hopkins, of Evansville, Ind.; b. Dec. 18, 1835; d. May 18, 1905; dau. of Hiram and Matilda (Fauquher) Hopkins.

    Capt. Olmsted, when he received his commission as Lieut., Co. A., 42d Regt. Indiana Vols., said to his father: "Father, I leave you in your old age, because I feel it to be a religious duty. I feel that my country needs my service."
    Promoted Capt. in 1861 ; killed at the battle of Perryville, Ky., Oct. 8, 1862. He was Surveyor of Vanderburg County, Indiana.
