The son of Charles Edward Morton and Frances Dowl, "Elmer" married Serilla Twichell on 4 Oct 1900 in Calhoun County, Illinois. They were the parents of at least 5 children.
Elmer worked in real estate, and the Mortons moved to Pike County, Missouri around 1920.
Serilla passed away in 1948. Less than a month-and-a-half later, the Morton's son, Ray, was killed when the bus he was driving was hit by a train in rural Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri.
Elmer died of a cerebral hemorrhage at Pike County Hospital. At the time of his death, he was 73 years, 3 months and 26 days old. He was survived by 1 daughter, Leola Traband.
Elmer was buried next to his wife, Serilla, on 18 Feb 1952.[1]
