Daisy and Billy moved to California in 1943. Billy worked in the shipyards in Alemeda and Daisy worked from time to time in different factories, but felt it was important to be home with their youngest daughter, Sheila. The family moved to Livermore, California, in 1945 and this was where they bought their first home. Billy worked at the U.S. Navy base. Daisy worked for three years at the Veterans' Hospital in Livermore. When the Navy base closed after the war, Billy transferred to a base in Oakland, where they lived for about two years. They left because Billy didn't like what he'd heard about the junior high school Sheila would be attending. They next moved to Clipper Gap, near Auburn, California. Billy continued to work for the government until he retired in 1964. References
