    In New York, July 9th, Charles J. Champlin, son of Elias B. and Hester D. Champlin, of Waterford, Ct., in the 16th year of his age. He death was caused by the collision of the Williamsbugh ferry boat with the vessel upon which he was engaged, killing him instantly. He was a member of the Seventh-day Baptist Church in Waterford, and while his friends are thus suddenly bereaved, they mourn not a those without hope.

    Death by Injuries - On the 10th inst. the Coronor held an inquest at 546 Grand street, on the body of Charles Champlin, aged 16 years, a native of Connecticut, a hand on board the fishing smack Herald of New London, which was run against last night in the East River about 9 o'clock by the steam Ferry boat Newtown, plying between New York and Williamsburg, and the bow of the steamer crushing him against the mast of the smack caused his instant death. Verdict, death by injuries received by the collision of the Ferry boat Newton with the fishing smack Herald on the night of the 9th, which collision might have been avoided by Thomas Rockwell who had charge of said Ferry boat.
