Obituary From "Mitchell Daily Republican," Mitchell, South Dakota,February 13, 1890:
Charles Butterfield, a farmer who lives ten miles south of the city, diedSaturday morning at 8 o'clock of pneumonia fever. The deceased was a manjust passed middle age. He had resided in the county for a number ofyears and was generally respected. He leaves a wife and severalchildren, all of whom are grown. The funeral was held at Thomas' schoolhouse at 1 o'clock this afternoon. The sermon was preached by Rev. A. A.Brown of this city.
