Rites Today for C.D. "Don" Brady.

The entire community was shocked Wednesday morning to learn of the death of Charles Donaldson [sic] Brady, member of pioneer Chickasaw families. Mr. Brady, who had lived alone since the death of this wife more than two years ago, was found dead in his home on South Gatlin Street. He had probably been dead since early Sunday night Dr J.E. Harris said. He was last seen Sunday afternoon on the lawn of his home.

W.G. Chenault, former city Marshal, serving in that capacity on Marshal Sam Watson's day off, realizing he had not seen Mr. Brady for a few days, stopped by his home. Receiving no response to his knocks, he contacted C.C. Johnston, justice of the peace and C.L. MGehee, a close friend. They forced their way into the home and found Mr. Brady dead on the bathroom floor with two faithful dogs standing guard. Mr. Brady was fully clothed even to his topcoat and heat was on in the kitchen. The body was discovered about 10:30. Deputy Sheriff O.D. Sullivan arrived shortly after the body was found. A coroners inquest was held and reported that he had died of natural causes. He had not been well and had consulted with Dr. Harris on Saturday.

A son of the late W.S. and Julia Sheppard Brady, prominent early citizens of this county, he was born in Houston on February 28, 1886, but resided in Okolona the greater part of his life. He was a traveling salesman for Domino Sugar Company for a number of years, serving Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana and Arkansas, and lived in Memphis. Later he operated a grocery business here. He retired several years ago. He was a Presbyterian.

Mr. Brady was a great lover of dogs and cats and took care of many stray ones.

He leaves a brother, Henry L. Brady, and three nephews, Henry L. Brady, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Mich., Joseph Brady of Macon and J.S. Brady of East Point, Ga.

Services for Mr. Brady will be held at 2:30 this afternoon in the chapel of Barry Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Miller, pastor of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be W.G. Chenault, E.L. Welford, C.C. Johnston, Arthur W. Quinn, Dale Shumpert and Billy Dawson.
