Mrs. Celina Lowther Bee was born in Richie county, West Va., November 22, 1839, and died at her home in this village Sunday morning, January 1, 1911, so at the time of her death, she was a little over 71 years of age. December 13, 1860 she was married at her home to Nehemiah Bee, who with two children, R. N. Bee and Mrs. Guy Clement, survives her. The oldest child, Emma, died about twenty-five years ago.
When about 18 years of age Mrs. Bee was converted and became a member of the Pine Grove, W. Va., Seventh-day Baptist church. A few years later she, with her husband, moved to Minnesota where she became a member of the Carlston church of her faith. The family lived in Minnesota about twelve years, coming to this place about thirty-three years ago. She transferred her church membership to the S. D. B. church here, and up to the time of her death she remained a consistent member. Soon after coming here Mrs. Bee entered the millinery business and continued in the business till failing health compelled her to give up her work only about a week before she died, so she has been connected with the business interests of the village longer than anyone else who has been in business here.
She was well beloved by all who knew her, and no one was ever turned from her with a frown as she always had a kind, cheery word for all.
Funeral services were held from the house Tuesday afternoon conducted by her pastor, Geo. B. Shaw, and the body was laid to rest beside her daughter in the cemetery. The music was furnished by a quartet - Mesdames. Esther Babcock and Mattie Burdick, Messrs. A. D. Mou???? and W. T. Hutchins.
