    Fatal accident on the railway

    Auckland, Thursday.—A shocking accident occurred at Otahuhu railway station last evening, which resulted in the instantaneous death of Mrs Catherine Rowe, wife of Cyprian Rowe, of that township. Mrs Rowe was returning from Auckland and at Otahuhu station stopped in the train till all the other passengers had got out and gone away. The train went ahead to shunt and after it had gone about its own length the deceased jumped out and fell between the platform and the carriages and was instantaneously killed, her head being almost severed from the body, and the arms and legs were also badly injured."
