Catherine Gillies, daughter of Thomas Campbell of Killyleoch, was married by Cornelius Giffen, brother in law, to John Paterson, banker, Irvine 21sep1858 at Annfield House, Irvine (newspaper). Catherine Gill* Paterson (b. abt 1837) d. 1915 (scotlandspeople). In 1891 John Paterson (1827, banker), wife Catherine (1838), children Annie (1865), James (1881), Robert (1885) were at 91 High St., Irvine (all b. Irvine) (census). In 1901 Catherine G. Paterson (1838 Irvine, own means), son James G. (1881 Irvine, bank clerk) were at Castlepark, Castle St., Irvine (census). The certificate of death of Keziah Scott Crombie, wife of Major Alexander Crombie, late of 61 Belgrave Rd., London, was verified by William Christie, 20feb1880, of Gilmour and Christie, W.B., Irvine; this affected GWR shares of David Gray, town clerk, late of Irvine, John Muir (Edinburgh), Alexander Gilmour (Irvine writer), John Paterson (Irvine banker), Alexander Bennett McGrigor (Glasgow writer) (findmypast). The death, 6jan1881, of David Gray (Irvine town clerk), verified by Wm Christie, affected Keziah Scott Crombie (wife of Major Alexander Crombie), John Muir (Edinburgh), Alexander Gilmour (writer, Irvine), John Paterson (banker, Irvine), Alexander Bennett McGrigor (writer, Glasgow) (GWR shares, findmypast). On death reg 22mar1891 of Alexander Bennett McGrigor, late of 26 Park Terr., Stirling, stock was transmitted to Alexander Gilmour, Irvine, and John Paterson (GWR, findmypast). Alexander Bennett McGrigor (1827-91) may have had a connection with John Allan Rankin, who had been married to Kezia Scott Mackenzie. John Allan Rankin was a cousin of Catherine Campbell's mother.
