Mrs. Carrie F. Jones Loofbourrow, was born in Illinois June 2, 1880, and died in Milton, Feb. 12, 1909, in the 29th year of her age. In her childhood she moved with her parents to Nebraska in the vicinity of Ord. In August, 1900, she was married to Mr. C. B. Loofbourrow and a little later they moved to North Loup, in Valley Co. In the summer of 1906 they came to Milton that Mr. Loofbourrow might pursue a course of study. During these years she made many friends by her cheerful disposition, her bright way of meeting difficulties and her gentle, quiet manners. Their little girls reflected her training in a way to do her honor, and were beloved by all their associates.
Mrs. Loofbourrow had suffered from several attacks of pneumonia and early in February the dread disease returned. Though not at first very alarming it soon exhausted her strength, refusing to yield to the most skillful treatment.
She was a woman of strong Christian faith daily exemplified by a consistent life and met the end calmly with unfaltering trust. Brief services were held at their home Monday morning, conducted by Dr. Platts, assisted by Pres. Daland, and in the afternoon the sad journey back to North Loup, where the burial will take place, began. A brother-in-law of Mr. Loofbourrow, Mr. Raymond Bee, of North Loup came from there, accompanied by Mrs. Nina Rood Lewis to assist on the journey in the care of the three little girls and the six-months-old baby boy. The sympathy of the College and of the Seventh-day Baptist church of which they had been members since the first arrival in Milton was expressed in many and substantial ways. The whole community is moved to sorrow by this sad event.
