Carl R. Damschroder Oct. 11, 1926 -- Jan. 31, 2005


Carl R. Damschro-der, 78, of Gibsonburg died Monday morning at Hospice of Northwest OH, Toledo.

He was born in Busy Corners in Sandusky CO to Ray and Nellie R. (Driftmyer) Damschroder. Carl was a 1945 graduate of Gibsonburg High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a salesman at Veh & Son Furniture for 44 years retiring in 1990.

Carl was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg, and was a Village of Gibsonburg councilman for 10 years. He served as mayor of Gibsonburg for two years, was a member of American Legion Post 17 and co-chair of the Gibsonburg History Book.

He married Marilyn McGee in November 1947, and she died in 1987. He then married the Rev. Carole A. (Williams) Long on July 8, 1989, at Faith United Methodist, Gibsonburg, and she survives.

Also surviving Carl are stepchildren, Joseph Long MI, Commander Julie (Long) Miavez, Hawaii; grandson, Oliver Damschroder; stepgrandchildren, Scott, Andrew and Amanda Long and John Miavez; brothers and sisters, Albert (Leola) Damschroder, Gibsonburg, Ruth McCoy, Risingsun, Thelma Henline, Fostoria, Ward Damschroder, Perrysburg, Louie (Sheila) Damschroder, Gibsonburg, Elsie (Evanlee) Deininger, Gibsonburg, and Ervin (Beth) Damschroder, Gibsonburg. Preceding him are his parents, his first wife, and son, Scott Damschroder.

Visitation: 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Herman-Kinn-Veh Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Gibsonburg.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church, Gibsonburg, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Dr. Jerel Jackson will officiate.

Burial: West Union Cemetery with military services provided by American Legion Post 17.

Memorials: Faith United Methodist Church or Donor's Choice.
