{geni:about_me} Callie Risner (Sr.) was b.Jul 23 1900 in Magoffin Co., Ky; he d.Sep 29 1984 at Ivyton, Magoffin Co., Ky; Callie had a 'thing' for very young girls. He was married at least 5 times, but his son Ova tells me he thinks its more like 7 times. There were two different women that Callie married and was divorced from after about 2 wks each (while Ova was in the military). Hmmmm.. As nearly as I can find out, Callie married 2nd to Trulie Sparks after his wife Gracie died in 1939; he had 3 sons by Trulie Sparks: Callie (Jr.), Andy Ray (1944), and Russell Dean (1949). #3 wife would've been Margi Marshall, d/o Hugh "Hooge" Marshall and Louisa Cole Barnett. (believe her maiden name was Cole and she had 1st married a Barnett). Margi Marshall was 31 yrs younger than Callie, I have no record of children between them. They were married in 1952 in Magoffin Co. #4 was Hattie Collins. I have no other vitals on Hattie, including parents. I'm guessing she and Callie were married around 1958. (Ova believes she was from Johnson Co.) Again I have no record of children between them. His last wife (either #5 or #7), Emma Sparks, had a son with Callie (who was 66 yrs old) - Jackie Neil Risner, whom I'm told still lives in Johnson Co., Ky, He must've been a real piece o'work -- YA THINK?! :) Ova told me that Callie actually went up on the mountain where his 2nd wife lived w/her parents, and traded some of his farm land for the hand of their daughter, Trulie Sparks, immediately upon the death and burial of his sick wife, Gracie Fletcher. Poor Gracie.. But Callie needed someone to raise those kids! And make more, of course. Now.. one more item. Callie and Gracie Fletcher Risner had SEVEN children, 1 girl and 6 boys. (He could really knock out those boys, couldn't he?) 1) Emogene Risner: 1920-2006 2) James Risner: 1922-2005 3) Charles Risner: 1924-2000 4) Paul Risner: 1927-2004 5) Earl Risner: 1930-2000 6) Cecil Risner: 1935-(living) 7) Ova Mitchel Risner: 1938-(living) Ova and I have known each other since 2003. He hasn't been well for quite awhile, but he does try to stay in touch. Cecil and his wife live in Ohio and I have contact with them once or twice a year. They are also not in great health. Callie and Gracie's sons were all musically talented, I'm told. Ova still plays banjo and has been learning the mandolin for a couple years. These children were not treated well by Callie, after their mother died. Trulie (2nd wife) was the closest thing to a decent mom they had after that and she stayed around for more years than all the others, until she just couldn't take Callie anymore... If anyone would like more info (dates bir/dea/marr's etc) please get in touch with me and I'll be happy to share. ..Sharon N.. References
