    Burtus A., son of Ezekiel and Malvina Davis Brooks, was born at Waterford, Conn., April 8, 1853, died May 3, 1935. He was married fifty-four years ago to Emma Gavitt who survives him, with four sons, seven daughters, forty-eight grandchildren, a brother, and five sisters.

    He was well known, highly regarded, and had many friends. He was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church. His works of art, with particular attention paid to marine scenes and landscapes, attracted considerable attention.
