    Burdette Sherman Green, the son of Robert T. Green and Elizabeth S. Ford was a coal miner. He worked in various coal towns in Kentucky, and West Virginia. He was married three times. First to Ada C.Doss Second to Ada Sylvania Warwick, and third to Edna West..

    Burdette Sherman Green widowed in 1921, with three children, Jack Green, b. 22 May, 1915, Irene Green, b. 23 March, 1917 and Lucille Green b. 23 August 1919, married second, Ada Sylvania Warwick. Burdette Green and Ada Warwick had one child, a son, Atlas Earl Green, who received the Bronze Star for bravery while serving as a Private First Class in the Army during World War ll.

    The marriage between Burdette Sherman Green and Ada Warwick ended in sudden separation. He packed up his three children from his previous marriage and was gone before morning light. He abandoned his wife, Ada Warwick and his infant son, Atlas Earl Green, leaving them without a means of support and refused to acknowledge Atlas as his son. Burdette Green's son.

    When he passed away, his obituary read. Burdette Sherman Green, 80 of Bradley died at 1:05 Wednesday May 19, after a long illness. Green was born in Woodridge, Tennessee September 9, 1895, a son of the late Robert and Lizzie Green.

    Burdette was a retired coal miner and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ. Survivors include his wife, Edna West Green. Four sons, Clarence, Claude, Hoil, Johnny all of Bradley and David of Cleveland, Ohio. Four daughters, Mrs. Irene Connor of Elkton, N.C. Mrs. Lucille Stigner of Nordolk, Va. Mrs Martha Dilliman of Sun City, Arizona Mrs. Sarah Morenno of Cleveland. Funeral services will be conducted at the Valley Funeral Home Chapel at Whitesville at 2p.m. Fri. with Rev. Mary Andrews in charge. Buriel will follow in Pinewview, at Orgas

    The surviving family did not make mention of Atlas Green, the only child born from Burdette's marriage to Ada Sylvania Warwick.

    The original signed certificiate of marriage for Burdette and Ada is in the possession of the family and is the only heirloom Burdette Green left behind from his marriage to Ada Warwick. Divorce Records between Burdette Green and Sylvania Warwick have not been found in the following states: WV, KY, TN, VA, WA, OR, IL DC, Ada Warwick never claimed to have divorced Burdette. She did say she assummed they were divorced and moved on with her life and remarried in the forties after coming west.
