Brian was one of the early cattle breeders to bring CharolaisS4 cattle into Manitoba. As a young man in 1959, he imported his first Charolais from the US and in 1966 he imported one from France. From these beginnings he developed Pleasant View Charolais Farm of Holmfield, Manitoba.

He died of cancer at the age of 47, leaving his widow and four childrenS3.
