    FORMER AUGUSTA MAN DIES IN AUSTIN, TEX.
    B. K. Benson, Well Known Author Dead.
    Announcement was received in Augusta a few days ago announcing the death of B. K. Benson, former Augustan, who died in Austin, Texas. Mr. Benson was a well-known author and educator. He was the brother of the late Sergeant Berry Benson and Mrs. E.P.H. Ruland of Augusta, and was widely known in this section. Besides being the author of text books, Mr. Benson also did a great deal of fiction work. He was the author of "Who Goes There", "A Friend of the Countersign", "Bayard's Courier", and "Old Squire", all of which, are well known books. He wrote many of the text books used in the schools in Austin. Mr. Benson was born in Hamburg, S. C. He was one of the first to join the first South Carolina Volunteers during, the Civil War. He and his brother, Sergeant Berry Benson served throughout the war, side by side. Besides three sons, who reside in Austin he is survived by four sisters: Mrs. C.C. Cary of Atlanta; Mrs. S.G. Rook of Atlanta; Miss Clara Benson of Philadelphia, and Mrs. E.P.H. Ruland of Augusta.
