Facts and Events
His official given name was Billie (not William), but he didn't like that and always was known as Bill and most people in Kentucky knew him as "Preacher Bill." He dedicated his life to the people of "The Hills of Kentucky" in the Appalachian Mountains, spreading the Word of the Lord thru the Kentucky Mountain Mission, Inc., for 60 years. His special gift of ventriloquism helped to reach the children (and adults) with the message of God's Love with two "dummies," Henry and Homer. He was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even great-great grandchildren. He loved to be with people. He loved sports, especially basketball and baseball, and was a big supporter of the University of Kentucky sports teams. He grew up with 2 sisters (one deceased) and a brother. His parents predeceased him. The family moved from Kansas to Los Angeles in 1945. He attended Bible College in the Los Angeles area. Married in 1950 and in 1953 arrived in Clay County, Kentucky, where he and his wife raised 4 children and where he has left many descendants.[1] References
