She died at 11:29 am on June 23, 2016 at her daughter's home. She was born on January 16, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to the late Clarence and Mabel (Williams) Smith. On February 04, 1947 she married Carl S. Ziegler and he preceded her in death on March 13, 2007.
Surviving is a daughter, Sue (Jack) Strunk of Batavia, Ohio; 3 grandchildren, Dana (Katie) Cutter of Williamsburg, Kurt Ziegler of Florida and Kevin Ziegler of Florida; 3 great grandchildren Nate, Kyle, and Taylor.
She was preceded in death by a son Gary Ziegler.
She helped her husband with the farming operation and was a member of Walnut Grove Church.
Betty loved dancing and singing with her friends. She taught line dancing and water aerobics for years.
She was a very caring person who loved her family and her church. She loved her many cats that she rescued.
