8 Mar 1798: Caleb Sawyer of Harvard Gentleman, Stephen Wilder yeoman and Betty Wilder Seamst[r]es both of Lancaster, Dinah Eager of Northborough Seamst[r]es, Hepzibah Sawyer Leafe Saywer Dinah Sawyer & Hannah Whitcomb spinsters of Harvard, and Leonard Whitcomb yeoman of Harvard for $10 each quitclaim to Phinehas Sawyer of Harvard housewright all right in the real estate set to Hepzibah Sawyer as her thirds in the Estate of Seth Sawyer late of Harvard deceased.
- ↑ The deed cited above shows that Betty was a daughter of Seth. Her age at death is close (presumably in 74th year rather than "age 74" which would make it match exactly) and she is from Harvard as indicated in the marriage record. Source:Wilder, Moses Hale. Book of the Wilders, p. 244, erroneously calls her "dr. Elisha Sawyer, and sister of Thomas, who married her sister, Susannah". No record of Elisha having a daughter Betty can be found, and the rest of the description is nigh undecipherable, as it seems to indicate her siblings Thomas and Susannah married each other?? He is actually referring to Jotham's sister Susannah Wilder [#2309], who married a "Thomas Sawyer, of Sterling" who was not Betty's brother (did not participate in the cited deed), but was a son of Elisha (baptized in Chocksett Church in Sterling 18 Sep 1757, see Lancaster VRs, p. 383).
