GERARD Bette Jane (Vance) Gerard, age 84, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 in Columbus, OH. Born October 25, 1920 in Spencerville, OH, Jane resided in Piqua, OH for 59 years, where she and her late husband, John Francis Gerard raised their 13 children. For the past several years, Jane has resided with her daughter, Elizabeth Enz, in Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by husband John, sons Timothy, William J. "Bill", Thomas Douglas "Doug", daughter Alice Ann Gerard, sister Joan Hutson and dear friend of 64 years Alice Jenkins. Jane is survived by sons, Michael (Barbara), Joseph (Arlene), James (Bonnie), Stephen (Bonnie), Jeffrey (Glenna) Gerard; daughters, Victoria (Stephen) Probst, Elizabeth (Gary) Enz, Jane (Lorin) Grable, Susan (Stephen) Klaumann; daughter-in-law, Karen (Doug) Gerard; 21 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brother, Reverend John (Rudy) Medaugh; sisters, Hilda (David) Morris and Patricia (Carl) Zimmerman. Jane will be remembered for her strength and fortitude in providing for her family, instilling in her children the values of faith, love and respect for each other. A private graveside and interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua, OH is being planned. Contributions may be made to celebrate her life to HomeReach Hospice, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43214. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus.

    Bette Jane (VANCE) GERARD, a former resident of Manistee, Manistee County, Michigan, died on 16 February 2005, in Columbus, Ohio. She was 84.

    When living in Manistee, at 207 Lighthouse Way S., with daughter Elizabeth ENS, an employee of then West Shore Hospital, she was active with many friends.

    Born in 1920 at Spencerville, Ohio, Jane lived in Piqua, Ohio, for 59 years when she and her late husband, John Francis GERARD raised their 13 children. For the past three years, Jane has continued to live with her daughter, Elizabeth, in Richmond, Virginia.

    She is survived by: sons, Michael, Joseph, James, Stephen, Jeffry, and daughters, Victoria, Elizabeth, Jane and Susan. She is also survived by: 21 grandchildren; a brother, Rev. John (Rudy) MEDAUGH, sisters, Hilda MORRIS and Patricia ZIMMERMAN.

    She was preceded in death by: her husband, John; sons Timothy, William J., Thomas, daughter Alice Ann GERARD, sister Joan HUTSON.

    Jane will be remembered for her strength and fortitude in providing for her large family, instilling in her children the values of faith, love and respect for each other.

    A private graveside and interment at Forest Hill Cemetery in Piqua, Ohio, is being planned.
