In Farina, Ill., Oct. 24th, 1876, of remittent fever, Mrs. Betsey Crandall, wife of Cary Crandall, aged 78 years and 1 day. She was born in Petersburgh, N. Y. When about twenty years of age she was baptized by Eld. William Satterlee, and joined the Berlin church of which she remained a member until her death.
In the Spring of 1837, she and her husband with their family, moved from Allegany county, N. Y., into Illinois, and in the Spring of 1866, they came to Farina. Of [unreadable] she suffered much from sickness and the infirmities of age. Death found her prepared for her change. She and her bereaved companion toiled during the most of their long wedded life as pioneers in Allegany and Illinois, in all of which she was ever an affectionate and helpful wife, an excellent mother, and a good neighbor. Her funeral sermon was preached by Eld. L. D. Ayers, from Psa. 116: 15. O. U. W.
