Obituary BESSIE E. HOSLER, 84 Bessie E. Hosler, 84, of East Jordan, died Dec. 5, , at Boulder Park Terrace Nursing Home in Charlevoix. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the Paullin Funeral Home, East Jordan. The Rev. David I. Behling will officiate, and burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery, South Arm Township. Mrs. Hosler was born Dec. 28, 1908, in Boyne Falls, the daughter of Barnabas and Emeline Jane (Sanborn) Howard. She grew up in Boyne Falls and graduated from Boyne Falls High School in 1926. On Oct 3, 1940, she married Daniel D. Hosler in East Jordan. The couple moved to Flint in 1955, returning to East Jordan in 1970. Mrs. Hosler enjoyed sewing, playing board games with her grandchildren, gardening, canning, playing cards and knitting. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Alfred and Marlene Hosler of Flint, John and Fran Chew of Conway, Ivan and Mary Jane Chew of Alanson, Clifford and Corky Chew of Flint, Mrs. Ruth Bass of LaGrange, Ga., and Nancy and Jim Waldorf, David and Julie Hosler, George and Jackie Hosler, Susan and David Hague, and Mrs. Mary Lewis, all of East Jordan. She is also survived by 35 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Leonard Howard and his wife, Lula of Flint, and Harry Howard and his wife, Jessie of East Jordan; one sister, Margaret Behling of Petoskey; three sisters-in-law, Leona Howard of Boyne Falls, Ardella Howard of East Jordan, and Pearl Howard of Virbinia; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hosler was preceded in death by her first husband, John Chew, in 1940; and her second husband, Daniel D. Hosler, in 1992. She was also preceded in death by her son, Herbert Howard Chew, in 1970; three grandchildren, Tina and Terry Lewis, and Kim Chew; one great-grandson, James Carpenter; three brothers, Henry, Roy and Ernied Howard; and one sister, Kate Miller.
