Bio: WOODARD, Bertha Lee 86, passed away August 22, 2012 at Carilion Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. She was born December 7th, 1925 in Claibourne County, Tennessee to Albert and Cornie Seymour. Her husbands George Luke Crutchfield Sr, and Gerald E Woodard, two brothers and a sister, preceded her in death. Bertha enjoyed a long career as an interior decorator, first working for Peoples Outfitting Company and lastly with the Accent shop. For many years she was a counselor with the Farm Bureau Youth Program and was active in the Oakland Presbyterian Church in Springfield. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George and Elke Crutchfield of Moneta, Virginia, a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Valerie Crutchfield of Clinton, Illinois and a daughter, Eugenia Woodard, of Austin Indiana as well as 5 grandchildren, Heather Archambault, Eric Crutchfield, Carey Pumo, Morgan Bloch and Mariah Crutchfield as well as 7 great-grandchildren. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 24, 2012 from 6-8 PM in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday at 12:00 pm in the Oakland Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
