B.J. McGROARTY, Winnipeg Sportsman, succumbs, aged 53

B.J. McGroarty, at 670 Lipton Street, died Wednesday morning in the St. Boniface hospital in his 54th year. Mr. McGroarty had taken an active interest in the organization of sports for many years and was well known to hockey and softball players and supporters throughout Greater Winnipeg. He was connected with the old Columbus club hockey team and was a former president of the Victoria Girls’ softball league. Born in Woodbridge, Ontario, Mr. McGroarty had resided in Winnipeg for the past 24 years, during which time he had been superintendent of Woods Manufacturing company. Two years ago he was forced to resign on account of ill health. He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mary, Veronica, and Patricia and two sons Cecil and Thomas all at home; two sisters. Mrs. J. Ryndress and Mrs. Duggan of Toronto, and two brothers, J.W. McGroarty of Winnipeg, and T. McGroarty of Toronto….
