He served in the military between 1782 and 1787.4507 The Miscellaneous Pennsylvania Records, Book of Family Charts, DAR GRC 1939, Vol. 69, p. 127, indicates that it was this Benjamin who was a Private in the Pennsbury Co., Chester Co., Militia under Capt Joseph Mendenhall, 2nd Co. 3rd Battalion, 1782-1783 (Archives 5th Ser, Vol. 5, pp. 583 and 575); 1st Co., 7th Battalion of the Chester Millitia, 1784, 1786 and 1787 (Archives 6th Series, Vol. 3, pp. 229, 234, 296 and 322). Benjamin died on 6 September 1815 at the age of 70 in Kennett, Chester, PA.4507,78520 Buried in Old Kennett Cemetery, Chester, PA. Existence derived from letter written by his father to a cousin.
