Have enjoyed your web site, you seem to have the inside track on Bath Co., KY genealogy. I am descended from Samuel Perry Shultz and Mary Becraft through their son Benjamin Franklin Shultz, who married Jailey Williams. They moved to Sangamon Co., IL and had a family whose descendents still live here. Would like to send you info on this family if you like. My question is about Jailey Williams b. 13 May 1850. Family tradition says that her father's name was John Williams. She is shown in the home of Aaron Williams in the 1850 and 1860 census records. I have a copy of a bio. of a Lafeyette Washington Hicks which mentions his wife's father Aaron Williams from Bath Co., KY. This bio. states that Aaron Williams did have a son named John who was killed by a team of runaway horses at the age of 18. Can you provide any info about this family? Was Jailey the dau. of a John Williams who died just before the 1850 census by a team of horses? Here's info about the children of Benjamin and Jailey Shultz. Benjamin Franklin Shultz b. He worked as a coal miner most of his life. Grandma told me that the name was always spelt SHULTZ (no c), and that the family migrated with the rise in coal mining in a particular area. Hope to here from you soon. Respectfully, Allen Turley References
