Oct. 27, 1757; … Mr. P. d. at New Haven, Oct. 23, 1839, a. 82. … Mr. P. left Salem, Mass., his native town, in 1772, when but 15 years of age, and went to New Haven, Ct., into the family of Hon. Roger Sherman, whose wife was his sister. In 1793 he formed, with Roger Sherman, Jr., the firm of Prescott and Sherman, which continued during his protracted life; eight of his ten children were living at his death, with forty-three grand children and seven great-grand children."
