Ensign, 1755; Lieut., 1757; Captain, 1768, Committee of Inspection, Branford, 5 Feb. 1776; Committee for supplying families of Officer and Soldiers belonging to Branford, 11 Oct. … His military record follows (Col. Rec., vol. 10, 1751-1757; p. 415): 'Gen. Assembly held at New Haven, Nov. 5, 1755. This assembly do establish Mr. Benjamin Maltbie, Ensign'. ('Gen. Assembly holden, at New Haven, 8 Oct. 1761', p. 578, Col. Rec. Conn., 1757-1767, XI): 'This assembly do establish Mr. Benjamin Maltbie, Lieut. 14th Co,, 2nd Reg. of this Colony'. (Col. Rec. Conn., 1768-1772, vol. 13, p. 13): 'Gen. Ass. holden at Hartford June 10, 1768. This ass. do establish Mr. Benjamin Malbie to be Captain of the 14th Comp. or train band, in the 2nd Regiment in this Colony.'"
